Rocca Calascio castle ruin on a rocky ridge, Abruzzo, Italy

The four towers of the castle ruin stand centrally on a rocky summit, surrounded by further low wall remains scattered across the entire ridge. Well worn paths wind between pale limestone blocks towards the various ruined sections. On the right, snow capped peaks rise beneath a densely clouded sky, while the terrain falls away to wooded valleys on the left. Sparse, stony vegetation dominates the whole foreground.
