WHERE TIME FLOWS
Water: life, force and stillness
Water is life, force and movement, and at the same time the most patient witness time has. It was here before the first house stood and it will be here when the last one has fallen. WHERE TIME FLOWS brings this element together with forgotten places: mills, mines, bathhouses and bridges that owe water their existence and are slowly falling back to it.
People built beside water because it gave them power, food, routes, a cure. They dammed it, channelled it, contained it, bridged it, and believed they had it tamed. Water went along with that for a while. Then it began to work under the walls, to loosen the wheels, to fill the basins, and it took its own course back, drop by drop.
Long exposures soften this water until it is barely real, as though time itself were running through the frame. What is hard and built stands still, what flows carries everything away. In that meeting you can see how unevenly time works on things: stone measured in centuries, water in seconds, and in the end the quick has beaten the slow.
And still it is not a battle. Water means nothing by it, it simply flows. It mirrors the ruins around it, breathes life into them, turns an abandoned place into a landscape. Still and mirroring or loud with current, it carries the story of these places on, long after people have stopped telling it.
WHERE TIME FLOWS is an invitation to lose yourself in that flowing time and to stand for a moment watching the water pass, the water that will outlast us all.
