Fresco-decorated red hall with a coffered ceiling in an old monastery in Italy

An octagonally divided coffered ceiling is decorated with painted medallions and floral scrollwork in blue, red, and gold. The walls carry a bold red pattern with inset trophy motifs, and on one side stands an open door with a view onto a bright balcony. The floor is laid with large light and dark tiles in a checkerboard pattern. Despite the decay, the room still feels opulent thanks to its rich ornament.
