Barrel vault with a tree in the view in a mausoleum in Italy
A tall barrel vault of pale natural stone spans a passage leading toward a central archway. A single tree grows exactly within the frame of the arch, filling the opening with fresh green. The columns on either side carry a plain cornice without further ornament. The floor lies in shadow, while bright light falls at the archway itself.
