Archway of an abandoned masseria beneath an umbrella pine in Apulia, Italy
A stone gateway with a wrought iron gate marks the entrance to an abandoned farmhouse. Lichen mottles the pale masonry, and a tall umbrella pine grows straight out of the roofline. Olive groves stretch toward the horizon on all sides, while dense shrubs climb over the foundation in the foreground. The gate stays shut, and the whole scene feels quiet and open.
