Ruin of a church with collapsed roof in Spain
A three-aisled church interior, its rows of arches resting on squat columns with ornamented capitals. The wooden roof structure has collapsed in many places, letting daylight fall in broad bands over toppled pews and a dense carpet of rubble, splintered wood, and loose plaster. In the background, the apse with the remains of an altarpiece is only dimly visible. Light and decay together give the space a feeling both open and heavy.
