Abandoned synagogue with painted ceiling in Romania
A wide hall with a vaulted ceiling on which blue medallions with star motifs and golden vines remain clearly visible, though plaster flakes away in many places. Rows of dark wooden pews fill the room, painted panels with blue backgrounds and menorah motifs hang on the side walls, and wrought iron grilles decorate the upper gallery. Narrow windows let daylight in from the sides, a metal chandelier hanging centrally from the ceiling. Despite the decay, the room still appears ordered and richly decorated.
