REDROOM

Red room with barred windows and a lake view in an abandoned villa by Lake Maggiore

Boldly red-painted walls peel away in large patches, revealing ochre plaster beneath. A narrow window with a round grille sits centred in the back wall, while a larger window on the right shows open water and distant hills behind a metal grate. Raking light draws long shadows across the tiled floor. The room's colour and the blue of the lake stand in clear contrast.
