MY HIDING PLACE I

Square stone house in a lagoon landscape on the Adriatic coast, Italy

A square house of pale stone stands on a narrow strip between lagoon and sea. A straight footbridge leads through reeds and still water toward the building, with small grassy islands scattered across the surface. Beyond it, the sea spreads in shades of turquoise and blue to a clouded horizon. The scale of the landscape leaves the house looking small and withdrawn.
