Two flights of stairs with turned stone balusters meet before a column with a round capital. The floor carries a diamond tile pattern with a meander border, partly covered in debris. A tall window in the background lets light fall onto the flaking ceiling paint. The space feels symmetrical and ordered despite the decay.
