Abandoned hilltop town on a rock outcrop, Italy
Densely packed stone houses climb the flank of a jagged rock outcrop, a square tower standing at its highest point. The facades show varying stages of decay, from collapsed roofs to nearly intact walls with empty window openings. Only scattered trees and shrubs grow on the steep slopes between the rock strata. A clear blue sky spans the entire scene.
