Fireplace room with an oval heraldic relief in a forgotten palace in Umbria, Italy
A coffered wooden ceiling carries a large oval relief with a crowned coat of arms, surrounded by carved scrollwork. The walls are lined with a heavily patterned red covering, at the center of which stands a stone fireplace topped with two urn finials. Narrow doors with painted heraldic cartouches lead to adjoining rooms on either side. The floor lies bare and rough, in contrast to the rich decoration of the walls and ceiling.
