WATERWORLD I
Moss-covered rows of piers in an underground water reservoir in Calabria, Italy
Numerous massive piers with round arches line up inside an underground cistern, causing the passage to repeat itself into the distance. A greenish and reddish coating covers the walls and piers, and damp patches and puddles mark the floor. Diffuse light enters from the side, clearly bringing out the structure of the arches. The unbroken repetition of the piers creates an almost hypnotic pull into the depth.
