Rusting truss bridge spanning a grassy field on the border with Abkhazia, Georgia

The steel truss bridge spans a wide, autumn coloured grass field, its struts braced diagonally like a stacked framework. Rust has settled in dark streaks over the riveted joints, the trackbed beneath overgrown with grass and barely passable. Low bushes and scattered trees line the route on either side. Beneath the overcast sky, the structure looks like a silent link between two abandoned banks.
