FORGOTTEN FUNERAL CAR IN ITALY

Forgotten hearse with a cross ornament, overgrown with ivy, in Italy

The hearse, with its characteristic cross ornament on the roof, stands amid tall grass, ivy tendrils having spread across the hood. The paint is covered in lichen and rust, the chrome of the headlights still faintly visible. Plastered buildings become visible in the background, suggesting the edge of a settlement. The combination of ceremonial ornament and decay lends the vehicle a peculiar stillness.
