Church with gilded coffered ceiling and chandelier in Italy
Two rows of slender columns carry a coffered ceiling with gilded medallions, a crystal chandelier hanging at its center. Behind it, a wooden gallery has partly collapsed and hangs at an angle over the dark altar area, its walls reduced to bare brickwork. Thick debris and remnants of pews lie scattered across the floor, a door fallen flat to the ground. The gilded ceiling reads as a last remnant of former splendor.
