Interior of an abandoned cooling tower in Belgium
The vast, hyperbolically curved wall of a cooling tower rises in even ribs toward the round opening in the roof. On the floor, a cross-shaped concrete basin forms the centrepiece of the structure, its edges already covered in moss. A narrow walkway crosses the basin toward the centre. The scale of the interior feels almost calming through its perfect symmetry.
