Symmetrical staircase with rubble on the steps in a forgotten sanatorium in Italy
Two symmetrical flights with wrought iron railings converge on a shared central staircase, its steps covered in bricks and rubble. Two tall windows let light fall from above, the walls blotchy where the plaster has flaked away in broad patches. Grid like railing sections stand in the foreground. The decay feels especially tangible here.
