A frescoed vault with a putto medallion in a villa in Italy
A groin vault spans the room in pale green, divided by narrow ribs with ornamental bands. An oval medallion with a painted winged figure hangs at the centre, framed by ribbons and floral scrollwork. Small painted cartouches fill the corner spandrels. The restrained colour palette and clear symmetry give the vault a calm, almost cool character.
