A richly decorated ceiling dome with an oval window in an abandoned palazzo in Italy
A square stucco ceiling frames an oval window with broken coloured glass, surrounded by shell motifs and gilded scrollwork. Traces of teal-coloured landscape paintings with trees are still visible in the ceiling's corners. Large areas of the white stucco are cracked and stained brown. The dense ornamentation and faded colours together create an impression that is almost overloaded yet fragile.
