Fresco-decorated entrance hall with a staircase in a villa in Portugal
A tall hall with gilded stucco frames opens onto a staircase at the rear. Large frescoes on both walls depict floating and reclining figures, while an oval sky panel with a floral motif decorates the ceiling above. The floor carries a fine geometric tile pattern, and columns with caryatid figures divide the space. Despite flaking paint, the hall still reads as festive and richly adorned.
