Multi-level galleries with grated walkways in an abandoned prison in Portugal

From an upper level, the view crosses over metal walkways to several gallery floors with wrought-iron railings and barred doors. Large mullioned windows on the sides let diffuse light into the tall, yellow-washed room. A central oval platform structure rests on slender columns above the middle of the hall. Metal and masonry show clear signs of age and corrosion.
