PILLARS OF THE EARTH

A row of tall columns with Corinthian capitals carries a sequence of round arches, their soffits painted a bold turquoise. Dense shrubs and young trees grow up in front of and between the columns, almost completely hiding the balustrade below. Tall conifers stand outlined against the sky behind. The weathered stone columns and the deep green form a clear contrast.
