Brick-vaulted arcade hall of the old stock exchange in Antwerp, Belgium

A ring of brick round piers carries a network of rib vaults in dark brickwork, from which wrought-iron lanterns hang down. In the background rises a richly decorated, Gothic-revival facade with tracery windows and pointed arches. The floor is paved with clinker bricks in a star-shaped pattern, partly broken up and covered with soil. The symmetry of the surrounding arcades draws the eye toward the center of the courtyard.
