Church ruin with a blue cross in Italy

A blue-painted cross is set into a heavily weathered wall niche, its color flaking away in several places down to the pale ground beneath. Around it, the piers still show remnants of floral painting in blue and red tones, the brickwork exposed at the edges. Small green plants grow at the base of the niche among loose brick fragments. Despite the decay, the coloring of the cross remains the most striking element of the scene.
