Ornate wall niche in a church ruin in Italy

A wide wall niche with rich green, gold, and rust-red ornament divides into three smaller arched panels filled with openwork tracery. Plaster peels away in large flakes from the surrounding surfaces, revealing lighter masonry beneath, while a plain wooden railing adjoins on the right. A single cable hangs loose from the ceiling. The original coloring of the decoration remains well visible despite the decay.
