Church ruin with an empty altar niche in Italy
A stone altar niche with a triangular pediment and columns stands empty at the center of a heavily weathered wall, flanked by three small arched niches on either side. The plaster has flaked away over large areas, exposing the structure beneath, with patchy traces of paint still visible in places. The floor before the niche lies bare and covered in fine dust. The symmetrical arrangement of the niches remains strictly legible despite the decay.
