Forgotten chapel with gilded altarpiece in Portugal
A small chapel painted in salmon tones, its barrel ceiling badly faded and cracked. At the rear, beneath an arch, stands a white and gold altarpiece with rich carving, flanked by statues of saints in niches, with two crystal chandeliers hanging before it. Wooden benches stand in loose rows on the dusty floor, while light enters from the side through a pointed window with colored glass. Despite the decay, the room still reads as festively furnished.
