Church ruin with collapsed vault in Portugal
A space with a pale groin-ribbed vault, from which a section of the ceiling has broken away and hangs in fragments as if suspended between the ribs. Pointed windows with colored panes frame the sides, dark wooden pews still stand along the left wall, and a door closes off the far end. A pile of stones and plaster debris lies directly beneath the break. The frozen moment of collapse gives the room a hovering stillness.
