Abandoned synagogue with painted ceiling and Torah ark in Romania
A hall with a richly painted ceiling in red, blue, and gold tones is lit by several wrought iron chandeliers hanging low over the rows of pews. At the far end stands a pointed-gable Torah ark with a red curtain, flanked by slender columns, with a raised reading desk and railing before it. The walls show symmetrical ornamental bands in muted colors, the floor free of debris. Despite the decay, the room still appears almost fully furnished.
