View through a red curtain into a bedroom at Villa Siotto Pittor near Bergamo, Italy
A heavy red curtain with fringed trim frames the view into a bedroom with a carved bed and red canopy. Two upholstered armchairs stand at the foot of the bed, a small rug lying on the plank floor. Light falls through a window in the background onto the peeling wall. The curtain in the foreground reads like a stage drape, revealing the room behind it.
