An octagonal frescoed dome with figure niches in an abandoned chapel in Italy
An octagonal dome opens above six oval windows toward a brightly lit centre. White stucco figures stand in pairs at the corners, surrounded by painting in warm pink and ochre tones. Large sections of the frescoes have flaked away, exposing the plaster beneath. The symmetrical arrangement of windows and figures still structures the space clearly despite the decay.
