Palazzi and Palaces

Photographed in Italy, Georgia and Portugal

A palazzo was built to impress: halls two storeys high, ceilings covered in frescoes, marble staircases that no longer lead anywhere. Many of these houses belonged to families whose name now survives only above the portal. What remains is the architecture, and it carries decay with a dignity new buildings do not have.

The works on this page show palazzi and palaces, mostly in Italy, from the series HABITAT, BOUNDLESS and SANCTUARIES OF BLISS. Large rooms call for large sizes: the open edition goes up to 75 × 50 cm, beyond that the lab produces numbered limited editions up to 180 × 120 cm.

Every work as an open edition in three finishes and four sizes from €90.00, lab-made in Germany with a 75-year colour guarantee. Larger sizes as a numbered limited edition on request.

What you get

Sven Fennema has photographed abandoned villas, churches, theatres and industrial sites across Europe since 2008. Every print is made individually to order in a leading German fine art lab. Depending on the finish, your work comes signed directly from the artist; very large works the lab hands straight to a freight carrier.

Every work is made individually after your order: mounting, stretching and final inspection by hand, usually within 7–10 working days.

  • 75-year colour guarantee

The lab guarantees the colour fastness of the prints for 75 years. Your picture will look the same in decades as on the first day.
