Churches are rarely demolished, but often abandoned. Dissolved monasteries, earthquakes, rural exodus and shrinking parishes have left naves across Europe where the altar still stands and light falls through empty window frames. Ivy grows over the pillars, birds nest in the vault, and the frescoes fade so slowly that you can watch them do it.

Sven Fennema devoted the series EVERMORE to these places; most works on this page come from it, joined by chapels and church ruins from other series. They suit quiet rooms, as a fine art print behind glass or as frameless aluminium.

What you get

Sven Fennema has photographed abandoned villas, churches, theatres and industrial sites across Europe since 2008. Every print is made individually to order in a leading German fine art lab. Depending on the finish, your work comes signed directly from the artist; very large works the lab hands straight to a freight carrier.
